I was frozen to a chair,

clutching my head and my hair.
Covered my ears,
drown out the sound.
Slam my eyes shut,
pretend there's really no one around.

But, in my paralysis, I lay.
Here on the floor,
on the porch,
outside,
pressed up against my front door.
Listening,
Much is deafening, shrill,

But, I'm still sitting still.
